Or not. The first round of results posted by Kids Voting USA suggested that Minnesota's rebellious youth favored Mitt Romney over Barack Obama by 2,135 to 1,944. But that was only preliminary; the updated results show Obama winning by 5,607 to 5,427. And that's without the final counting of thousands of paper ballots from the Minneapolis and St. Paul schools.

The actual results have no real meaning, of course, and are entirely affected by the randomness of the school districts and communities such as Duluth, Edina and Brainerd that participate. The importance is that thousands of kids in Minnesota cast realistic looking ballots in realistic looking voting booths on Tuesday -- and might be more likely to cast real ballots a few years later when they are adults.

Roughly 1 million kids in 22 states cast ballots on Tuesday in the Kids Voting USA program. They favored Obama by a 2 to 1 margin, according to the organization's preliminary results.

I'll post Minnesota's statewide results when they are available, just see you can see whether the apples fell very far from the trees, so to speak.

The Kids Voting program in Edina already posted its results on YouTube! Wow, those kids really didn't like the constitutional amendments ...
