Thursday: Musicians of the Minnesota Orchestra, who have been locked out since Oct. 1 in a contract dispute, will play a concert on their own at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

The program of Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5 and Dvorak's Cello Concerto (featuring Tony Ross) takes the place of what would have been the opening night of the orchestra's 2012-13 season. When management locked out the musicians, it also canceled the first six weeks of the season.

Conductor Laureate Stanislaw Skrowaczewski will be on the podium. (7: 30 p.m. Thu., Minneapolis Convention Center auditorium, 1301 2nd Av. S, Mpls.; $15-$40, 1-800-514-3849, ext. 2, or www.minnesotaorchestramusicians.org.)
