A 52-year-old Edina man died Sunday after drowning in the St. Croix River while moving a dock, the Chisago County Sheriff's Office reported.

The man, identified as Steven Richard Labarron, was found about 11:40 a.m., when authorities were called to Wild Mountain Road near Taylors Falls on a report of a drowning, the Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

When rescue workers arrived they started CPR and transported the man to St. Croix Regional Medical Center in St. Croix, Wis. He was pronounced dead in the emergency room about 1:50 p.m.

The Sheriff's Office said Labarron was pulling a dock out of the river near a steep bank when it disconnected from the rope being used to pull it and struck him in the head. Labarron then fell into the water.
