ST. PAUL, Minn. - Democrat Rick Nolan collected slightly more money than Republican Rep. Chip Cravaack in the latest quarter, but had significantly less in the bank for the final weeks of a hard-fought race in northeastern Minnesota.

Nolan's campaign said Friday that he raised $484,000 from July through September, compared with $471,000 for Cravaack.

But Nolan started October with $464,000 in the bank, while Cravaack had $1.1 million to spend.

Outside groups have spent nearly $4.5 million on the race in the 8th District, a key seat as the parties fight for control of the House.
