Park Board seeks help on linking lakes

  • October 6, 2012 - 9:45 PM

The Park Board is looking to improve the connection between two of Minneapolis' most popular lakes, and it wants the public's help.

The board has set aside about $3.7 million in a future budget to improve the Chain of Lakes. Of particular interest is the area between Lake Calhoun and Lake of the Isles.

The connection between Isles and Calhoun is a tricky one, involving semi-hidden trails, as well as underpasses at the six-lane Lake Street and Midtown Greenway.

The board says the Calhoun/Isles connection is an increasingly important area because of the popularity of Tin Fish restaurant, the Greenway and the Calhoun Sailing School.

A "visioning" session will take place Tuesday at the MoZaic building on Lagoon Avenue. A "concept-review" open house, where the public is invited to give feedback on designs, is set for Oct. 13, also at MoZaic.
