A wine for burgers

Not many American vintners make gamay noir (aka Valdeguié, formerly known as Napa gamay), and no one does it better than Anoka native Andy Cutter and his wife, Deb. They have been crafting the delicious Duxoup Dry Creek Valley Gamay Noir ($15) since opening their Sonoma winery in 1981. Dark red fruit, just firm enough tannins and solid structure are hallmarks of this medium-bodied red. Besides being as swell a hamburger wine as I have sampled, it should pair well with pizza and tacos. Available at the Wine Thief and Lake Wine & Cheese.
