Ahhh, weather. Parts of the Northland are looking at the first big snow of the season – 6 inches or more – in the coming days. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for Northern counties, including Koochiching, northern Itasca and northern St. Louis. The Duluth News Tribune has the story.

But that lousy weather should also help quell Northern Minnesota wildfires that jumped out of control Tuesday. The fires that burned 12 square miles are already contained, allowing residents of the evacuated town of Karlstad to return home. Any snow or rain is welcome news for firefighters though. ________________________ Gov. Dayton is taking his jobs tour to the Iron Range Wednesday. He'll tour Magnetation Inc., a six year old company, and host a roundtable discussion with area mining leaders. The tour is part of the governor's "Working for Minnesota Jobs" tour that is taking him throughout the state to discuss economic growth and what's working and what's not. ________________________ The Star Tribune editorial board weighed in on the Mankato coach story this morning, urging Blue Earth County Attorney Ross Arneson to break his public silence surrounding the case and detail why he's certain the three short videos of Todd Hoffner's children found on his work cell phone constitute child pornography. Hoffner, the football coach at Minnesota State University-Mankato, was arrested in August and charged with child pornography. A search of his home computers and other electronic equipment yielded no similar evidence, authorities have said. Here's the full editorial. ________________________ News tip?
