Prince has a new look and a new song, and both fall squarely under the category of old school.

Minnesota's royalist rocker – who has probably spent more time straightening his hair over the years than he has on tightening his bands -- debuted a surprisingly natural, retro afro look on ABC's "The View" this morning. On the show, he chatted with super-fan Sherri Shepherd, actress Rosaria Dawson and the rest of the gab queens about his upcoming "Welcome 2 Chicago" residency and especially about the charity involved in those shows, Rebuild the Dream. The new/old hairdo was the talk of Twitter, though. Super-duper fan Questlove tweeted, "Whoa!!! is Prince rockin' a baby fro on The View??!!" The other "View" guest, by coincidence, was Prince's former governor, Jesse Ventura, plugging a new book. Wonder what that backstage powwow might've been like.

Just as "The View" was wrapping, a retro R&B radio station in Sacramento, Calif., premiered a new Prince song. Titled "RnR Affair," the poppy track boasted some sweet '70s-style horns and a light, be-boppy groove that sounded better suited to a radio outlet that plays Kool & the Gang and the S.O.S. Band than Prince's go-to station of late, 89.3 the Current. V101.1 FM (streaming here) will spin the new tune near the top of every hour today.

Prince has apparently gotten chummy with the station because his young and gorgeous new protégé (and rumored girlfriend) Andy Allo is based out of Sacramento. A backup singer in his band of late, Allo's new album was executive produced by Prince and features three songs he co-wrote. "RnR Affair" is not from that album, though, and probably from his next one – details of which are as fuzzy as that new 'do. Stay tuned.

As for next week's "Welcome 2 Chicago" residency, two new shows were added at United Center, bringing his run there to three nights, Sept. 24-26.
