Authorities on Thursday released the identities of the four people who were killed while riding in a pickup truck that turned into the path of a semitrailer truck at a rural intersection in east-central Minnesota.
Those who died in the crash on Tuesday evening just east of Askov were: Arden Edwards, 58, of Askov; Brett Larson, 21, of Sandstone; Catherine Peterson, 20, of Askov, and Felicity Jensen, 17, of Bruno.
Two of the four were riding in the bed of the pickup, which is legal, but authorities have so far only revealed where Edwards was seated. He was in the right passenger seat at the point of impact.
A 21-year-old man in the pickup was at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth and listed in fair condition on Thursday. The hospital identified him as Nikko Jensen, of Bruno.
The 50-year-old driver of the semi was not hurt. His identity has yet to be released.
The westbound pickup turned left onto Clark Road and into the path of the eastbound semi traveling at 55 miles per hour, according to Chief Deputy Scott Blackwell of the Pine County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened as the pickup was about to reach Peterson's home on Clark Road.
Blackwell said authorities are "not looking at any wrongdoing" by either driver, adding that alcohol and drug use were not considered factors.
