Referendum sample

Here's a look at some of the issues before voters in November from metro-area schools:

St. Paul: $39 million a year for eight years to help pay for technology, elementary math and reading staffing, all-day kindergarten classes and special education shortfalls. If voters approve, owners of a $149,000 house, the median value of a home in the state's second-largest school district, would see property taxes rise about $66 per year. Osseo: $9 million for five years to pay for staffing and programming. The district is also asking for $5 million a year for 10 years to help fund technology initiatives.

Richfield: Would extend the current $301-per-pupil levy for 10 years. Also asking voters to add $60 per pupil to the levy. For the owner of a $169,000 home -- the district average -- that would cost $16 in additional taxes per year.

Delano: Would renew a $1.1 million-a-year operating levy set to expire next year for another 10 years. The district is also asking for an increase to that levy that would raise taxes for the average homeowner by about $12 a month.
