A FAMILIAR SCRIPT
Wendy and Bob Webb took Jermaine Clemon to see the 2009 movie "The Blind Side,'' which chronicled the life of Michael Oher from his impoverished youth to his adoption by Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy to becoming one of the top college football players in the country, and ultimately a No. 1 draft pick by Baltimore.
Oher is black, and his adoptive parents white, just like Clemon and the Webbs, who are legal guardians for the Concordia (St. Paul) sophomore.
"When the movie was over, Jermaine looked at me and said, 'Wow, that's kind of like us, isn't it?'" Wendy said.
Clemon said after the movie he went online to read more about Oher and found the story inspirational.
"It made me so much more comfortable with my family,'' he said. "I saw pictures of him and his white family, and I've got a white family. It was cool."
