What: NHL owners plan to lock out the players if a new collective bargaining agreement isn't finalized by Sept. 15.
Important dates: Wild training camp is supposed to begin Sept. 21, and the team's season opener is supposed to be Oct. 13 vs. Colorado.
Key points in NHL proposal: Players' percentage of revenue pie goes from 57 percent to 46; unrestricted free agency goes from seven years of service to 10; salary arbitration is eliminated; contracts limited to maximum of five years; entry-level terms go from three years to five; $190 million in revenue sharing.
Key points in NHLPA counter-proposal: Continued hard salary cap with likely luxury tax; players take reduction in hockey-related revenue; $250 million in revenue sharing; no modification to player contractual system.
