Following an accident in which a child died, a wheeled dolly meant to store collapsible stages and risers is being recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday. Midwest Folding Products, of Chicago, is recalling about 5,300 stage and riser caddies sold to churches, schools, performing arts centers and other organizations. Latches on the caddies don't automatically secure the stages and risers, posing a risk the items can fall off. A three-year-old South Carolina girl died of head injuries when part of a stage stored at a church in May, 2011 fell off its caddy. The $1,200 caddies are brown, gray or black and are 44-by-30 inches by 60 inches high. Owners can contact the business to receive a repair kit. Call 800-621-4716 or visit www.midwestfolding.com.
