St. Paul fencer Scanlan loses opening match

Fencer Susie Scanlan of St. Paul lost her opening match, falling to Ukraine's Olena Krybytska 15-13 Monday morning in the epee competition.
They were tied at 8 going into the third period of the match.
The fencing competition at London is single elimination, so Scanlan has been eliminated from future competition.
Krybytska loat her second-round match.
