Training to be offered in braille transcriptionClasses on transcribing reading materials into braille will be offered at Volunteer Braille Services in Golden Valley starting with an informational meeting on Sept. 18. Weekly instruction will begin the following week and run through March.

Students who succesfully complete the course will be awarded a certification in Literary Braille Transcribing from the Library of Congress. Golf tournament to benefit PRISMA "Brighter Future Golf Tournament," which will benefit the PRISM food shelf, will be held Aug. 13 at Golden Valley Golf & Country Club. PRISM serves Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Crystal, New Hope and east Plymouth.

CEAP conducting back-to-school programFor the 22nd year, the Community Emergency Assistance Program (CEAP) is gathering school supplies for needy kids in northwestern Hennepin and Anoka counties. CEAP's Back to School program will give supplies to parents of students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Donations need to be dropped off by Aug. 17 at CEAP offices in Brooklyn Park at 6840 78th Av. N, or in Blaine at 1201 89th Av. NE., No. 130.
