Slowing declines in its check business helped Deluxe Corp. report stronger sales and profits during its second quarter.

The St. Paul-based company said Thursday that revenue grew 7 percent to $371 million and net income rose 19.2 percent to $42.3 million.

Lee Schram, the company's chief executive officer, said that revenues were up because of better-than-expected check decline rates and revenue growth from its recent OrangeSoda acquisition.

Deluxe provides a variety of services to small businesses and financial institutions, including customized checks and forms and website development and hosting. The company also sells checks directly to consumers. It saw particularly strong growth during the quarter in its small business services division, which was up 14.8 percent compared with last year. Marketing solutions and other services revenue increased 29.9 percent.
