TV commercials are the new MTV. The latest beneficiary is Yael Naim, 30, a Paris-born Israeli chanteuse who sings in English, French and Hebrew on her self-titled debut. The album, due March 18, has been set up by an Apple MacBook commercial featuring Naim's "New Soul," a sweet, sunny slice of horn-accented pop delivered with a noticeable accent. But while it's lovably lightweight, another song might garner more attention: Naim's minimalist, loungey piano treatment of Britney Spears' "Toxic," delivered with varied, intoxicating voices.
