The Wolves agreed today to sign Boston restricted free agent center Greg Stiemsma to an offer sheet.

Terms weren't immediately known, but it's big enough that Stiemsma's agent is confident that the salary-cap stretched Celtics won't be able to match it in the next three days.

All the Celtics can afford is the $1.975 bi-annual exception.

Stiemsma's agreement comes three days after Portland matched the Nic Batum offer sheet and one day after Courtney Lee signed with the Celtics (after a sign-and-trade with Houston) and Jordan Hill re-signed with the Lakers.

The Wolves had pursued both Lee and Hill.

Stiemsma's presence would give the Wolves the backup center they need behind Nikola Pekovic after they waived Darko Milicic last week.

The Wolves now likely will turn their free-agent pursuits toward another wing such as Ronnie Brewer, Dominic McGuire or Brandon Rush and they also could use another big man, such as Ronny Turiaf.
