Mid-summer walleye anglers often prefer nightcrawlers as bait. Typically trolled near the bottom on multi-hook harnesses, 'crawlers are best presented when inflated with air -- a strategy achieved with a plunger and needle combination sold at most sporting goods stores. Inflated worms and nightcrawlers often carry higher in the water column, and appear larger and more enticing to fish.
