Matt Capps is back from the disabled list, but it remains to be seen how soon he will be back to closing.

The Twins sent Kyle Waldrop back to Class AAA Rochester on Thursday to make room for fellow righthanded reliever Capps, who had been out since June 24 because of right shoulder inflammation.

Capps is 1-4 with a 3.42 ERA and has converted 14 of 15 save opportunities. He made two scoreless, one-inning rehab appearances for Class A Fort Myers this week.

Glen Perkins is 4-for-5 on save opportunities, and Jared Burton is 2-for-2 since Capps reported the soreness. Manager Ron Gardenhire indicated before the break that he would ease Capps back before returning him to the closer's role.

New rotation orderThe Twins return from the All-Star break on Friday, but, as expected, Scott Diamond won't be pitching in this series. The Twins wanted to give him a longer rest since he has pitched 113 2/3 innings this year.

Against Oakland, the Twins will use, in order, Francisco Liriano, Cole De Vries and Brian Duensing. Diamond, whose last start came July 5, will face Baltimore on Monday, and Sam Deduno will start Tuesday.
