This is the time in the summer that NHL teams have their developmental camps time. Some are going on, others are coming up.

Gophers forward Zach Budish, for instance, is at the Nashville Predators camp. It began on Tuesday and goes through Sunday. He is one of 22 forwards there.

One past, one present and one future Gopher will be at the Columbus Blue Jackets camp from July 3-7. Forward Jake Hansen, an assistant captain and senior on the Gophers' Frozen Four team, will be there. Hansen was taken in the third round (No. 68 overall) by Columbus in the 2007 NHL draft.

Also at the Columbus camp will forward Seth Ambroz, who will be a sophomore on the team this season, and incoming freshman Mike Reilly, an offensive-minded defenseman. Reilly had a great season at Penticton of the British Columbia Hockey League. The Vees won the Junior A national championship in Canada.

* Defenseman Brady Skjei, another incoming freshman was at the New York Rangers camp for two days this week. ... Center Nick Bjugstad is headed for the Florida Panthers' camp next week. ... Sophomore Ben Marshall is one of 13 defensemen on the roster for the Detroit camp.

* Among other dates for training camps:

Boston, Thursday-Monday

Buffalo, July 8-13

Carolina, Tuesday-Saturday

Detroit, July 7-13

So the roster for 2012-13 breaks down this way: 14 forwards, 10 defensemen, three goalies. ... 15 players who have been drafted by an NHL team, 12 who have not. .

Those last two numbers will change slightly if Nick Bjugstad signs with Florida and undrafted Justin Kloos, who was a senior last season at Lakeville South, comes in to replace him.

KLOOS IN LIMBO

Justin Kloos, who signed with the Gophers last fall, is preparing to go to Russia in August.

His USHL team, the Waterloo Black Hawks, are playing in the 10-team Junior Club World Championships in Omsk, Russia, from Aug. 18-26.

Of course, all that could change if Bjugstad turns pro. Then, in all likelihood, Kloos would not play in the USHL this season and join the Gophers.

Kloos, who was a senior at Lakeville South last season, was named the state's Mr. Hockey after the state tournament.
