A 16-year-old girl, suspected of abducting her 6-month-old boy from a north Minneapolis foster home, was located Thursday afternoon and the baby is doing fine, police said.

The girl was arrested near downtown Minneapolis and is in custody, said Police Sgt. Stephen McCarty. She has yet to be charged.

The child's father also was arrested, but his apprehension is for an unrelated warrant, McCarty said.

The child "appears to be OK," the sergeant said.

McCarty said the mother surrendered after negotiating with authorities.

Early Wednesday afternoon, officers responded to a home at the 2400 block of Sheridan Avenue N. on a report that a noncustodial parent had taken her child. Police said the mother "might pose a threat" to the baby.
