"My fishing partner and I fished for bass on a recent outing. At about 8:45 we approached the mouth of a creek and I made a cast with a crawdad-colored Rat-L-Trap and two spins of the reel handle and the big bass slammed it! I set the hook and the bass leaped into the air. The fish peeled line, burying itself in a bed of weeds. I was able to pull the fish out and my buddy landed it. A quick photo and the fish was released. It was a terrific day on the water!"

STORMY WATERS Keegan Gallagher, 14, of Plymouth, caught this 27-inch walleye on Lake Mille Lacs. His group stopped there while returning home from a trip to Rainy Lake, where they were blown off the lake by high winds. Keegan caught this dandy as a storm was approaching.

STAYING YOUNG Dolores Holteen, 83, of St. Peter, Minn., caught this sunfish using her Zebco 33 reel on Crooked Lake north of Grand Rapids. She's been fishing the area for more than 50 years.
