Lynx return to practice Tuesday, stay at top of power ratings

Chicago is the new No. 2 team in the's weekly power ratings. The Sky come to the Target Center on Saturday, June 23 for a nationally televised afternoon game on ESPN.

The Lynx at 9-0, of course, remained at the top of the power ratings. No. 3 was Connecticut, and dropping two spots to No. 4 was Los Angeles.

The Lynx's next two opponents' Phoenix (2-5) and Seattle (1-6) are No. 8 and 11, respectively. The Lynx play at Phoenix on Friday and at Seattle on Sunday.  There will be a viewing party Friday at Champps in Minnetonka.

Coach Cheryl Reeve gave the Lynx both Sunday and Monday off after they beat Tulsa on the road on Saturday to go 9-0 -- tying a WNBA record for victories in a row at the start of a season.

* The WNBA players of the week are Chicago guard Epiphanny Prince, for the second week in a row, in the East and Los Angeles rookie Nneka Ogwumike in the West. ... Lynx forward Maya Moore was among the other players nominated.

Los Angeles has had two players of the week in the West, Phoenix one and the Lynx none.


The Lynx have a handful of players doing well. Guard Lindsay Whalen is averaging 5.8 assists per game --- second in the league. ... Monica Wright, making her second start for the Lynx this season in place of the injured Seimone Augustus (strained right quad), had 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Lynx ran away from Tulsa on Saturday.

Maya Moore scored a season-high 26 points against the Shock. She had 14 points in the third quarter when the Lynx pulled away. ... Rebekkah Brunson is shooting 60.5 percent from the field -- second in the league -- and is averaging 7.8 rebounds -- the fourth best.
