SOFTBALL: Champlin Park continues postseason hot streak

CLASS 3A, SECTION 5

• CHAMPLIN PARK 3, CENTENNIAL 0: Champlin Park is showing the importance of peaking at the right time. The No. 7-seeded Rebels, who ousted No. 2 seed Park Center on Tuesday, remained undefeated in postseason play on the strength of a two-hit, nine-strikeout performance by Kate Herron. Kara Stuckmeyer and Marisa Boser each went 2-for-4 for the Rebels.

• MAPLE GROVE 3, MOUNDS VIEW 1: The Crimson, ranked No. 1 in Class 3A, earned the other spot in Tuesday's winners' bracket final as pitcher Cayli Sadler picked up her 20th victory over the season. Taylor Bratten had a hand in all three Maple Grove runs, scoring two and driving in the other.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 3

• BLOOMINGTON JEFFERSON 3, BURNSVILLE 1: Nicole Tobon continued her clutch power-hitting for the Jaguars. Her two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the difference for top-seeded Jefferson. Tobon, a senior catcher, hit two grand slams in the final week of the regular season to rally the Jaguars to victories.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 4

• STILLWATER 2, NORTH ST. PAUL 1: The Ponies bumped No. 2-seeded North St. Paul to the losers' bracket as pitcher Hannah Heacox held the Polars' potent lineup to just one run on two hits.

CLASS 3A, SECTION 7

• FOREST LAKE 10, CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI: Injuries made the regular season difficult for Forest Lake's Shannon Nelson, but the senior second baseman looked very much like her pesky self in the top-seeded Rangers' first postseason game of the year. The fleet Nelson went 3-for-4, scored three runs and drove in two more as Forest Lake won for the 20th time in 21 games.

CLASS 2A, SECTION 4

• ST. ANTHONY 4, VISITATION 3: The ball was flying out of the park in the winners' bracket final at Brooklyn Park. Mary-Claire Couillard went 3-for-3 and hit a two-run homer and Kenzie Hadler added a solo shot for St. Anthony. Andrea Feltz and Lauren Debertin homered for Visitation.

CLASS 1A, SECTION 4

• NEW LIFE ACADEMY 6, MINNEAPOLIS WASHBURN 3: The Eagles moved one step closer to their fifth consecutive Class 1A state title with a winners' bracket victory. Stacia Butwin delivered the big hit, a two-out, bases-loaded double in the fifth inning that scored three runs, giving New Life a 5-3 lead.
