The Vikings have announced the signing of Tyler Holmes, a rookie guard out of Tulsa. To make room on the roster, the team has waived receiver Kris Adams.

Adams joined the Vikings' practice squad in the final month of 2011 and later signed a reserve/future contract, which allowed him to take part in the team's offseason conditioning program as well as rookie mini-camp.

Holmes, meanwhile, went undrafted last month. He is 6-foot-5 and 308 pounds. His father, Richard, is a former standout in the Canadian Football League. And Holmes himself was drafted in the first round of the CFL Draft last year by Toronto but opted to stay in school for another year and finish his career at Tulsa. Now he'll give things a go with the Vikings.
