Here's an interesting note from Regis this week that doesn't involve some sort of board-room intrigue.
The Edina-based haircare giant said this week that existing franchisees opened more than 20 new salons in the fiscal third quarter, and then company welcomed 12 new franchisees to the fold including Supercuts and Roosters Men's Grooming Centers.
Said Kurt Landwehr, vice president, Regis franchise development, in a news release: “Franchising is a terrific option for anyone looking for a career change or who wants a way to supplement their current profession. The haircare industry is recession-resistant, defies technological obsolescence and is relevant in every community.”
Landwehr said there's growth occurring in several Regis franchise brands.
Supercuts is popular because it's a known, and dominant brand. But "we’re also seeing great interest around the country in Roosters Men’s Grooming Centers and Pro-Cuts Sports. Both of these concepts fill an underserved market segment – men and boys who want male-oriented or sports-themed options. In fact, a locally owned franchised Pro-Cuts is opening in Minnetonka at the end of May."
This fiscal year, the Regis Franchise business has awarded development rights to 134 new salons and franchise recruitment is up 252 percent, he said.
