Sunday 5/13

Flowers and sweets are all very well, but Mother's Day is really about piano music -- or so it would seem from the concerts on offer this year. If you like your pianism undiluted, there's the much-heralded Yulianna Avdeeva, the first woman in 45 years to capture gold at Warsaw's International Chopin Competition, in a mouth-watering Bach-Chopin-Ravel-Prokofiev recital presented by the Frederic Chopin Society. If you prefer a cocktail, there's Naumburg Award winner (and new mother) Ieva Jokubaviciute in an equally enticing, season-ending Debussy-Janacek-Schumann program with the Chamber Music Society of Minnesota. Choose! (Chopin Society: 3 p.m. Sun., Sundin Music Hall, 1531 Hewitt Av., St. Paul, $12-$23, 612-822-0123, or www.chopinsocietymn.org. Chamber Music Society: 4 p.m. Sun., First Lutheran Church, 1555 40th Av. NE., Columbia Heights, $15-$25, mothers free. 651-450-0527, or www.chambermusicsocietymn.com.)
