After selecting Arkansas wide receiver Jarius Wright with the 118th overall selection Saturday, the Vikings continued to bolster their offense with pick No. 128. The pick: Southern Cal's Rhett Ellison, a college teammate of first-round pick Matt Kalil and potentially a replacement for the recently retired Jim Kleinsasser.
It's a bit puzzling, with so many other needs, that the Vikings chased after Ellison, who's sort of a tight end/fullback hybrid.
Ellison figures to be more valuable as a blocker at the next level rather than a pass catcher.
The Vikings still have seven more picks Saturday, including one more in the fourth round, two in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh.
