Pulitzer winner's plays to be published

Her play won a 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, but has never been published.
Quiara Alegria Hudes won for her play "Water by the Spoonful." The play, which had its world premiere production last fall at Hartford Stage, is being published by Theatre Communications Group, which plans to bring it out by August 1 on its TCG Books imprint.
Due out soon after that is "Elliot, A Soldier's Fugue," which is another part of a trilogy of plays by Hudes. The playwright's "The Happiest Song Plays Last" will get its world premiere in spring 2013 at the Goodman in Chicago and will be published later that year by TCG.
"Water by the Spoonful" follows Elliot, a 19-year-old marine, as he struggles to find his place in the world upon returning from Iraq. The first two scenes of that play may be read in their entirety now on Hudes’s website.
Best known for her work on the Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award-winning musical "In the Heights," Hudes’s "Elliot, A Soldier’s Fugue was also a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2007.She became the first Latina to win the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
