Passing on this information from the Gardens of Eagan.... Gardens of Eagan's Tree Plantin' Project, Plant Pre-Sale + Farm Lunch Saturday, April 28. Start time is 9 a.m. and lunch is at Noon. Location: Northfield, MN. Contact libby@gardensofeagan.com for registration and meet up location. In honor of Arbor Day, Gardens of Eagan, an organic vegetable farm, is hosting a modern-day barn raisin' and planting 2,000 trees! GOE is planting shelter belts, these are banks of trees protecting the farm from wind, providing habitat for wildlife and helping to limit erosion. This sort of planting is a big job for our small farm crew and without community support these trees couldn't be planted. More hands make light work, and this is a fun outdoor farm project. In return for your hard work, we will give you lunch. Simple as that. Come for the planting and stay for the greenhouse tour. Pick up your plants before they go on-sale to the general public. Groups welcome! Educational, too! No tree planting experience is required. Our farmers will train on proper site and tree selection, planting techniques, and management. We will also train on the benefits of trees in sustainable agriculture. Pre-Sale! Tree planters will have the added benefit of our plant pre-sale. Sales are ONLY for folks participating in our planting project. Sales start following the morning's project + lunch.
