Don't go planning a fireworks frenzy just yet. Although the Minnesota Legislature has lit the fuse to allow sales of powerful fireworks in the state, Dayton has not given the big boom the okay yet.
"I haven't decided yet. I'm waiting to see," said DFL Gov. Mark Dayton on Tuesday.
The governor, who met with fire chiefs who opposed the expanded fire power Monday, acknowledged that before passing the measure the House limited sales of the powerful rockets to just a five-week period in the midsummer and made other changes to the bill that could make it more palatable.
"I have to wait and see how it ends up," Dayton said.
The House and Senate will have to compromise on a final measure and vote on it again before it could land before the governor.
