Gov. Mark Dayton has made no secret of his desire to have the Legislature give him a bill raising hunting and fishing license fees.

The Game and Fish Fund is teetering on insolvency, and the DNR will make more cuts beginning immediately after the current legislative session, if license fees aren't hiked.

The House has failed to act on a license-increase bill so far this session, and on Wednesday, the Senate voted down an amendment on the floor to its Game and Fish Bill that would have raised the fees.

Negotiations reportedly are underway to find a resolution, because it's possible if the license fee increase fails, so will a proposed wolf season, and possibly the respective Game and Fish bills in their entirety.
