BALTIMORE -- The Twins announced tonight that the results of Scott Baker's MRI exam today were similar "structurally" to the one he had in July 2011 -- when he spent 18 days on the disabled list with a right elbow strain -- and that he plans to get a second opinion next week from Dr. David Altchek in New York.
Altchek is the doctor who performed Tommy John surgery on former Twins closer Joe Nathan and prospect Kyle Gibson, among others. But the good news is that, according to the Twins, there doesn't appear to be enough structural damage to keep Baker out for a long time, and if Altchek feels the same, the righthander could resume pitching again soon.
