Preview: The Wild, which had its three-game winning streak ended Tuesday in a 2-1 shootout loss at Nashville, plays a Blackhawks team fighting for Western Conference playoff position. Chicago is safely in sixth place in the Western Conference but is only two points behind fifth-place Nashville and three points behind fourth-place Detroit, which defeated St. Louis on Wednesday. Chicago has had three days off since losing to the Wild in a shootout on Sunday.
Players to watch: Wild C Mikko Koivu has 21 points in 25 games vs. Chicago. LW Dany Heatley, who scored his team-best 23rd goal vs. Nashville, has 51 points. RW Devin Setoguchi has four points in two games vs. Chicago. G Niklas Backstrom is 4-6-1 vs. Chicago. G Josh Harding is 5-3-0. For Chicago, D Duncan Keith returns from a five-game suspension. RW Marian Hossa has points in nine of 12 games. RW Patrick Sharp has goals in three consecutive games.
Numbers: Koivu and Blackhawks LW Andrew Brunette have 59 goals each at Xcel Energy Center, tied for second most behind Marian Gaborik (110).
Injuries: Wild LW Matt Kassian (groin), D Jared Spurgeon (concussion), C Matt Cullen (broken finger), D Clayton Stoner (upper body) and D Steven Kampfer (knee) are out. For Chicago, C Jonathan Toews (concussion), C Dave Bolland (upper body), D Steve Montador (concussion) and LW Daniel Carcillo (knee surgery) are out. Brunette (right foot) and D Sami Lepisto (left leg) are questionable.
