False report. A man came in to the Police Department and reported he had been robbed at gunpoint. He said the robber fled with $500 from his wallet. After a lengthy interview and investigation, the man admitted he did not want his wife to know he had lost the money gambling. He was charged with filing a false police report.

CORCORAN

MARCH 4

Illegal dumping. Trash bags containing garbage were dumped in the road on Blue Bonnet Drive. An officer went through the trash and found evidence leading to a suspect. The suspect was contacted and agreed to clean up the trash right away.

EDINA

MARCH 14

Theft. A puppy valued at $1,200 was stolen from a vehicle in a parking lot on the 7100 block of York Avenue S. The vehicle was locked, but the windows were cracked open. The puppy's owner, a 66-year-old woman, said the doors were unlocked when she returned to the vehicle. The puppy was later found.

MARCH 15

Theft. A GPS unit was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle on the 6800 block of Cornelia Drive.

MARCH 18

Drunken driving. A 32-year-old Edina man was arrested for drunken driving at Interlachen Boulevard and Rolling Green Parkway after officers received a report of a vehicle driving all over the roadway.

INDEPENDENCE

FEB. 27

Suspicious activity. Suspicious vehicles were reported at a home that had been vacant for a year on the 3100 block of Lake Sarah Road. Officers showed up and found that new renters were moving in.

MAPLE GROVE

FEB. 27

Theft. Conference chairs reportedly were stolen out of a storage garage at Lord of Life Church, 7401 County Road 101.

MARCH 4

Theft. Money was reported stolen from purses during a baby shower on the 13400 block of 87th Way.

MAPLE PLAIN

FEB. 23

Drunken driving. A 31-year-old Albertville man was arrested for drunken driving at the West Hennepin Public Safety department, 1620 Maple Plain Av. The man was intoxicated when he came to the Police Department to obtain a copy of a police report from Feb. 18, when he was also arrested for drunken driving, police said.

FEB. 26

Missing animal. A potbelly pig named Stanley escaped from his home on the 5200 block of Main Street E. The next day he was sighted at County Road 19 and Industrial Street. However, no one could capture him. An hour later, Stanley was spotted on the 5100 block of Industrial Street, and he still eluded capture. Stanley's owner finally called on March 3 to report that he had captured Stanley and the pig was doing fine.

MEDINA

FEB. 16

Animal complaint. The owner of a barking dog on the 3900 block of Wild Meadows Drive was issued a citation for violation of the barking dog ordinance.

FEB. 18

Fire. Hamel and Loretto fire departments responded to a grass fire on the 1200 block of Medina Road. The homeowner said he was burning some brush when the wind shifted and he lost control of the fire. He was issued a citation for illegal burning.

FEB. 26

Animal complaint. A loose horse was reported on County Road 110W. It was returned to its pasture.

MARCH 4

Suspicious vehicle. Officers responded to a home on County Road 15 regarding a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway. Officers located the driver, who explained that he was out tracking deer.

MARCH 8

Suspicious activity. Someone called police to report people breaking into an apartment on Tower Street. Officers located the people, who turned out to be employees of the owner with permission to be there.
