Longtime Democratic operative Jeff Blodgett will become the Minnesota state director of Obama for America, resuming the role he had in 2008, Kristin Sosanie of Obama for America confirmed Wednesday.

Blodgett, who rose to fame for running the late U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone's political efforts and ran Wellstone Action until recently, had been in charge of Win Minnesota and the 2012 Fund.

Longtime union staffer Adam Duininck to take over Blodgett's job at those funding committees, he confirmed.

Win Minnesota and the 2012 Fund are two well-funded campaign committees that help DFLers' election efforts. Win Minnesota and the 2012 Fund help fund the Alliance for a Better Minnesota and have significant contributions from unions and other big DFL donors, including Alida Messinger, Gov. Mark Dayton's ex-wife.

The funds were run by Ken Martin during the 2010 election. Martin has since become the chair of the DFL Party.
