Preview: This is a classic battle of the two lowest- scoring teams in the NHL. The Wild averages 2.14 goals per game, the Kings 2.08. However, Los Angeles, after not being able to swing a deal for Columbus captain Rick Nash, traded with the Blue Jackets for Jeff Carter last week and reunited him with former Flyers teammate Mike Richards. The Wild is coming off a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over San Jose, its third victory over the Sharks this season. The Kings were 3-6-2 in their past 11 before Monday's game in Nashville.

Players to watch: D Tom Gilbert, who hails from Bloomington and was acquired from Edmonton on Monday, will make his Wild debut. G Niklas Backstrom will start. He is 3-1 in his past four with a .940 save percentage and 2.30 goals-against average. C Matt Cullen has scored three goals and a shootout goal in the past four games. C Kyle Brodziak is scheduled to play his 400th game. His next goal -- his 17th -- will establish a career high. ... Kings C Jarrett Stoll has scored 20 points in 38 games against the Wild, while C Anze Kopitar has 17 points in 22 meetings.

Numbers: On Sunday, the Wild won for the fourth time (4-22-6) when allowing three goals. ... The Wild is 17-5-9 in one-goal games. ... The Wild's power play is seven for its past 20 at home (35 percent). ... Gilbert will make an NHL-high 43 players to dress for the Wild this season.

Injuries: Wild C Mikko Koivu (undisclosed), D Mike Lundin (hernia), D Clayton Stoner (hip), LW/RW Pierre-Marc Bouchard (concussion) and LW Guillaume Latendresse (concussion) are out. Kings LW Simon Gagne (concussion) and RW Scott Parse (hip) are out.
