City Council holds the line on Vikings stadium deal: Despite pressure from the governor, the mayor and Vikings boosters, a seven-member council majority say they're taking their cues from constituents opposed to a $300 million public sports subsidy without a referendum. Tax-forfeited properties at a 20-year high in Hennepin County: Hennepin County says it tries to avoid seizures, the majority in north Minneapolis, by negotiating with owners. Traffic moving again on Hiawatha Avenue under the closed Sabo bridge: Hiawatha, also known as Hwy. 55, was shut down last week after cables on the pedestrian and bicycle bridge broke. (Paul Walsh)

Murder trial to begin this morning in Dinkytown hit-and-run: After a week of jury selection, opening arguments are scheduled to begin Monday in the trial of Timothy Bakdash, who is accused of using his vehicle to run down a group of University of Minnesota students in Dinkytown last spring, killing one of them. Trees coming down for sewer work near Lake Calhoun: Construction workers will begin removing 170 trees and areas of undergrowth along the south side of the Midtown Greenway between Thomas Avenue South and East Calhoun Parkway in the next few days. (Maya Rao)
