Andy Parrish, a longtime staffer to U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann, said Friday that he is no longer working for her.

Parrish, who began working with Bachmann in 2005, said he was told Friday that she was "going in a new direction."

"I was told I was not part of the direction," he said.

Bachmann has filtered through staff frequently but Parrish had been a constant.

"It's been a long time," he said Saturday. He worked with her first campaign for congress, became her congressional chief of staff and worked for her presidential campaign. He took another job for about two years during his time with her.

Last month, Bachmann ended her bid for the presidency after a poor showing in Iowa and with campaign debt weighing her down. A few weeks later she announced she would run for re-election.
