Each week, commenter Stu tracks down a former Minnesota sports figure about whom you might have forgotten. This seems to work out well for everyone involved. Stu? ------

The Hunt Down

Name: Holly Manthei

Claim to Fame, Minnesota: an outstanding multi-sport athlete for Burnsville High School in the first part of the 1990s. Was a member of three state champions (soccer and basketball in 1992, soccer again in 1993), won the state 300M hurdle title in 1993, and is a member of the Burnsville High School Hall of Fame, which entitles to her to a voucher for one half-price item in the Burnsville Center food court (Mondays and Wednesdays only; One Potato Two is exempt)*. Claim to Fame, Everywhere Else: was a member of the 1995 US Women's World Cup team, which finished third. She writes about the scrunchie-intensive experience here (mild language warning). Attended Notre Dame on a soccer scholarship, where her bio makes multiple, terrible puns based on her hometown ("a lighting (sic) fast midfielder who will burn her opponents"). We should probably be grateful that she's not from Axmurdertown or Stabdale. Where She Is Now: she is the Digital Marketing Manager for your Minnesota Wild. Do you not want your personal information disclosed by the Saint Paul Arena Company and/or Minnesota Wild? She can help you! Want to know how big the lifts are in Kenny Chesney's boots when he plays the Xcel? Just ask! Is She on Twitter: yes! Follow her @hollymanthei. Do it. Do it now. Glorious Randomness: she is also one of the be-tank-topped models for the Minnesota Timberwolves' Ladies Night Out promotion. *unconfirmed
