Day one of the 2012 legislative session wasn't quite the model of civility and bipartisan cooperation the leadership had pledged. Day two, take two. Lawmakers boarded buses this morning and headed to the University of Minnesota for the annual One Minnesota legislative policy conference. The closed-door event, held at the start of every legislative year, gives lawmakers a chance to try to find common ground. According to the public agenda of this private gathering, the day featured events like a discussion of budget, jobs and taxes, moderated by House Speaker Kurt Zellers, as well as forums on government accountability, government redesign and other policy issues where members might be able to find common ground. From 1:45 to 2:30 p.m., participants will get pointers on conflict resolution, narrated by Senate Majority Leader Dave Senjem. You can view the full schedule here.
