Hennepin Theatre Trust announced on its website this morning that $25 rush tickets will be offered for

"Lion King" performances on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 9, availability permitting. Like most of its shows, HTT made the "Lion King" rush line available only to educators and students with a valid student ID. Only one ticket is allowed per ID.

Rush tickets go on sale one hour before curtain time of 7:30 p.m., although people will start lining up before that. Tickets will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis, not the lottery system used for "Wicked."

Regular ticket prices are $34 to $139 and rush seats can be any unsold seat at any price, said HTT's public relations director Karen Nelson.

According to the Hennepin Theatre trust site, the show is a "visually stunning, technically astounding [phenomenon] with a musical score like none other. Giraffes strut, birds swoop, gazelles leap. The entire savannah comes to life and as the music soars, Pride Rock slowly emerges from the mist."

"Newsweek called the Tony Award®-winning Broadway sensation 'a landmark event in entertainment.' The New York Times said, 'There is simply nothing else like it.' Marvel at the breathtaking spectacle of animals brought to life by a cast of more than 40 actors. Wonder at the inspiration of award-winning director Julie Taymor, who created visual images for this show that you'll remember forever. Thrill to the pulsating rhythms of the African Pridelands and an unforgettable score including Elton John and Tim Rice's Oscar®-winning song 'Can You Feel The Love Tonight' and 'Circle of Life.' "

The show runs for two hours and 30 minutes with one intermission.
