Someone in Itasca County in north-central Minnesota bought a Hot Lotto ticket Saturday that is worth $2.61 million, according to the Minnesota State Lottery.
The ticket holder has one year from the date of the drawing to claim the prize. Once the winner comes forward, he or she has 60 days to choose the 25-year annuity option of $104,400 per year before taxes, or the cash option of $1,345,457 after taxes of about $640,000 are withheld.
Lottery officials advise the ticket holder to sign the back of the ticket and store it in a safe place. The winner(s) should call the lottery's public relations department at 651-635-8271 to make arrangements for validation.
The winner(s) will receive payment about two weeks after the ticket is redeemed at lottery headquarters in Roseville.
