Haircuts for $9 to $12 for a limited time Fantastic Sams gives the price of its haircuts a trim through Jan. 24. The $9.99 special includes a shampoo, conditioning and blow-dry. No coupon is required. Other budget salons such as Great Clips charge about $22 for the same service. Check Fantasticsams.com for more than 80 Twin Cities locations, including new salons in south Minneapolis and Roseville. Ask for a punch card to get your 11th cut free at participating locations.

Pro-Cuts is also discounting haircuts in two locations. In Eagan (1348 Town Centre Dr., 651-454-5590, www.getaprocut.com) cuts are $9 through Sunday and $10 Monday through Feb. 19. In Plymouth (4105 Vinewood Lane N., 763-383-7695) haircuts are $12 through Jan. 22. Pro-Cuts caters to men, but women are welcome, too, in its sporty, masculine decor.

Dresses for weddings, cocktail parties and Halloween There won't be any wedding dresses spray-painted with red Xs at the Operation Glass Slipper sale. Even though Priscilla of Boston in Edina was destroying dresses earlier this month, other local shops such as Rush's, the Bridal Spot, Chapel of Love, the Wedding Connection and Bridal Accents Couture donated their samples without incident. More than 200 wedding gowns will be $50 each, including a dress from Bridal Accents originally marked at $3,300. A slightly smaller selection of wedding gowns from the 1960s, '70s and '80s will be $20 each. Another 2,000 cocktail dresses, mother-of-the-bride and summer dresses are $5 each in all sizes and colors. Shoes ($3 or less), jewelry ($2 or less) and purses ($5 or less) will also be for sale.

The nonprofit provides free prom gowns and accessories to Twin Cities girls in need. This year the sale moves to Park Crossing Shopping Center (2233 Energy Park Dr., Suite 400, St. Paul, 651-994-7989, www.operationglassslipper .org), Friday through Sunday.

Fun Sisters expands hours, sale offerings Ten years after opening the first Fun Sisters boutique in Minneapolis, the owners are finally expanding their hours so that all the stores except downtown St. Paul are open several days a week instead of a few days per month. The store still specializes in inexpensive designer-inspired purses ($14 to $58), jewelry ($15 or less) and sunglasses ($10), but dresses, skirts and tunic tops have been added. Everything in the Minneapolis (4253 Nicollet Av. S., 612-822-9872, www.thefunsisters.com) and Stillwater stores (216 S. Main St., 651-430-3141) is discounted an additional 25 percent for January. Popular sellers include fleece-lined leggings (what took you so long?) and Nikibiki microfiber layering pieces in one-size-fits-most.
