A woman reported being kidnapped at knifepoint in a Coon Rapids pawnshop parking lot and raped in her car, authorities said Thursday.

The 39-year-old woman told police she was assaulted about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday after being ordered to drive to a nearby location, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office. No arrests have been made.

"This is an extremely rare case," Cmdr. Paul Sommer said.

According to the Sheriff's Office:

The woman, an Anoka County resident, arrived at the Pawn America on Coon Rapids Boulevard. Two men began talking with her, and one of them pulled a knife and ordered her back into her car.

The armed man got in the back seat behind her, pressed the knife to her throat and directed her where to drive. She drove around for about a half-hour, Sommer said.

She arrived at a parking lot that she described as being part of a park area, and it was there that the man raped her. He took her cellphone and fled.

The woman drove to a fast-food restaurant, where a man called Coon Rapids police for her about two hours later. Police found her there in her car, crying and her blouse torn. She was taken to Mercy Hospital.

Police think the rape occurred near Anoka-Ramsey Community College in Coon Rapids.

Sommer said police are investigating several pieces of evidence. They have no reports of any similar assaults in the metro area, he said.

The woman described the attacker as white, in his mid-20s, 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a medium build. She said he was clean-shaven and wearing a dark blue Adidas hooded sweatshirt. She couldn't provide a description of the other man at the pawnshop parking lot.
