Vintage savvyWant to learn how to integrate Granny's heirlooms and other vintage pieces into your decor? LiLu Interiors will offer tips at "Family Ties," part of its Inspiring Design series. New on the newsstandHGTV is now in magazine form. The first test issue of HGTV Magazine, a new home/lifestyle publication, will hit newsstands nationwide Tuesday. A second test issue is planned for February/March. The new title is a joint project of HGTV and Hearst Magazines, and it will be divided into sections on decorating, kitchens, before-and-after projects, real estate buying and selling tips and "weekending," from flea markets to household chores. Familiar faces from HGTV will be featured, including Genevieve Gorder, Vern Yip, David Bromstad and Sarah Richardson. The cover price is $3.99.

Decluttering eventWhy is it so hard to let go of our stuff? That's one of the questions that will be posed at a Declutter Expo on Monday, sponsored by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers. Organizing pros Kathy Franzen and Lisa Wendt will share strategies for paring down possessions, and vendors will showcase products and services focused on decluttering, reducing and re-using. Crawling with artDoes your home have a bare wall or niche just begging to be filled with artwork?
