This is what I learned about the ostrich yesterday from an article in The New York Times magazine:
They can live from 50 to 75 years.
They'll mate up to three times a day (without chemical assistance).
The hen will lay as many as 60 eggs a year.
The eggs weigh as much as five pounds.
They might taste like chicken (didn't say), but the meat is priced like prime beef.
