The jolly red World Street Kitchen food truck will have to find a new place to sell its scrumptious banh mi sandwiches. The skyway to nowhere from the Fifth Street Towers downtown might finally have somewhere to go. The luxury apartments envisioned for the corner of Nicollet Mall and 5th Street are part of the upscale rental trend in places like Chicago, David Phelps and Dan Browning report. Some doubt the Nicollet Residences will ever materialize, but the Minneapolis Planning Commission is scheduled to hear more about the project today.

Residents in the Keewaydin and Ericsson neighborhoods on the South Side are hearing the noise, and they're not happy about it. After a near collision in mid-air last year, the Federal Aviation Administration decided to send more aircraft over these neighborhoods in the interest of safety, Pat Doyle reports.

A string of parks linking downtown to the Mississippi River. New trails over former industrial land. Reconstructed wetlands replacing barge terminals. These are some of the amenities of the plan presented to the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board that would continue the riverfront's revival north to the city's borders with Brooklyn Center and Columbia Heights, Tom Meersman reports. The cost: $145 million to $175 million.

Mayor R.T. Rybak says he hit the roof (presumably the newly repaired fabric that covers the Metrodome) when he heard that the city might help pay for moving the Vikings to Arden Hills. The mayor want $30 million if the Metrodome is sold, not the $5 million previously promised, Mike Kaszuba and Rochelle Olson report. It's not clear whether this effort will prove more successful than the mayor's last-minute effort to keep the Vikings here.

S. that killed James "Jay" Beck, a 28-year-old bicycle enthusiast who worked at Burger Jones, Matt McKinney reports. Augsburg College is mourning the loss of freshman Jason Stevens, 19, who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 94 early Wednesday.

Meredee Lagaard is remembered for teaching generations of special education students in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Outside the classroom, she lived life to the fullest, traveling the globe and living with a monkey and a foul-beaked parrot, Corey Mitchell reports. Lagaard died Sept. 16.
