The Minnesota High Tech Association confirmed Thursday it is cutting two executives, including its chief operating officer as part of a restructuring effort.

Peter Lindstrom, vice president of public affairs, and MaryFrances Schurb, chief operating officer and vice president, will be leaving the association, said Margaret Anderson Kelliher, president and CEO.

"MHTA has really appreciated their service to the organization and a number of board members are reaching out to them in their next opportunity," Kelliher said.

MHTA said the changes aim to better align the MHTA with its mission and vision. Membership at the association continues to grow, with 61 new companies joining MHTA so far this year, Kelliher said. That's compared to 40 new member companies last year.

Kelliher said when the plan is fully implemented, the budget will be about the same and there will be new positions added. The new jobs include a position focused on innovation and entrepreneurship, a position dedicated to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) initiatives, a public policy position and an events coordinator, Kelliher said.

Lindstrom sent out an e-mail letting his friends know he was looking for new job opportunities. He did not immediately return a call for comment.

"It's been a pleasure to work with my colleagues and a dedicated group of member companies to help position the state as a leader in science and technology," wrote Lindstrom, who has worked for MHTA since 2003. "I'm looking forward to my next adventure."
